It came to me last night that through this optimization in the drawing portion of a similar tome one could pull all of the magic out of their body all at once, and not have it come back at them. Rather, it would be focused into the target for an even heavier surge. It's still a suicidal move to draw that much power from yourself, but it wouldn't be a vain sacrifice like so many others.
I don't usually publicise my findings, but as I will never use this one I think it is fair game.
